Hankook Says "Be Safe...Air ´Em UP"

Safety Initiative Aimed At Educating Consumers
Free Air Pressure Check Kit Available Through Online Registration

WAYNE, N.J. Nov. 29, 2010- Improperly inflated tires not only present a safety concern, they can be hazardous to consumers' wallets as well. Hankook Tire is launching a campaign to educate the public about the benefits of maintaining proper air pressure by providing consumers free air pressure check kits and running a tire giveaway beginning next month.

Hankook Tire America Corp., the world's seventh largest and fastest growing tire maker, is launching a campaign to raise awareness and educate consumers on the benefits of maintaining proper tire air pressure. Its "Be Safe...Air ´Em UP" consumer safety initiative will run from Dec. 1, 2010 through Feb. 28, 2011. Consumers can register online to receive a free Hankook Air Pressure Check Kit and become eligible to win one of 15 free sets of Hankook passenger or light truck tires. Five winners will be randomly chosen each month during the program's activation period.

Hankook Tire experts recommend consumers use the free Air Pressure Check Kit to check tire pressures at least once a month to ensure proper inflation.

"In addition to the safety benefits, properly inflated tires help save gas, save treadlife, save money and can help save our environment," says Bill Bainbridge, director, brand communications, Hankook Tire America Corp. "We're hoping this campaign will make people more aware of the positive benefits of properly inflated tires."

Properly inflated tires

  • Save Gas... When tires are under inflated, they increase rolling resistance and your vehicle needs to use more energy... meaning you are wasting gas. Properly inflated tires require less energy helping your vehicle become more fuel efficient. A more fuel efficient vehicle save gas.
  • Save Treadlife... When tires are under inflated they build-up excessive heat inside. This causes tires to wear out faster and you'll need to replace them more often. Proper air pressure is critical to prevent tire failure and also improves overall performance. Properly inflated tires are healthier tires. They'll last longer. That save treadlife.
  • Save Money... When tires are under inflated, they wear out faster and waste fuel. When tires are over inflated they wear out faster and are more susceptible to bruises and road hazards. Properly inflated tires are safer, better for your vehicle's suspension and can actually lower your total maintenance costs. Less gas… longer treadlife… lower maintenance costs… That means you'll save money.
  • Save The Environment...The less energy we burn, the less fuel we use, the less treadlife we waste, the more we save. We save money, we save consumption and at the same time we reduce emissions into the air we breathe. And when we maximize tire life, we'll need to dispose of fewer worn out tires. So you see… if we all start taking better care of our tires, we can help save the environment.

Upon completing the registration for a Hankook Air Pressure Check Kit, consumers will be automatically entered into the giveaway for a free set of Hankook tires. Details can be found on Hankook's website at www.hankooktireusa.com
