Hankook Driver Tanner Foust Celebrates Victory at Formula Drift Round 4
Foust now second overall in championship standings
WAYNE, N.J., July 12, 2010 - Two-time Formula Drift champion Tanner Foust celebrated a well-deserved victory this weekend, piloting his Rockstar Energy Drink Scion tC on Hankook tires to his first Formula Drift win of the season - his third podium in the last four events - leaving Foust in second place overall in the Formula Drift Championship.
"This was an epic event and took a lot of work to get this victory," said Foust following the podium celebration. "We ran multiple 'One More Time' battles, and to advance against competitors that put on such clean tandem battles made this victory even more sweet. The Hankook R-S3's were consistent and gave me the grip I needed."
Formula Drift Round 4: Throwdown was held in front of a packed crowd at Evergreen Speedway in Monroe, Wash. just minutes outside of Seattle. Evergreen Speedway is the oldest track on the Formula Drift circuit.
Four Hankook drivers qualified for the Top 32 with Eric O'Sullivan in 28th, Robbie Nishida in 21st, Conrad Grunewald in 11th and Tanner Foust holding down the 8th position. But it was Foust alone who battled through the field, taking out Forrest Wang, Sam Hubinette, Fredric Aasabo, Darren McNamara and finally Ryan Tuerck in a hard-fought final.
"We are thrilled with this important win and congratulate Tanner and his team on their success," said Bill Bainbridge, director of brand communications for Hankook Tire America Corp. "Our continued focus is getting drivers on the podium, so this victory is great for Tanner and certainly good for the Hankook brand."
