Hankook Tire Takes Best Overall Time and Wins Five Class Victories
at Redline Time Attack Las Vegas

Hankook Tire leaves Las Vegas with eight podiums for second event in a row

Wayne, NJ, April 30, 2010 - Hankook Tire’s Time Attack teams opened the season in Buttonwillow with eight podium finishes and a new track record ? a tough act to follow. No worries, Hankook teams left Las Vegas with another eight podiums including five first place wins and the overall victory.

“We are extremely pleased with the performance of our teams,” said Jason Kim, motorsports marketing manager, Hankook Tire America Corp. “Obviously we know how strong the competition is at these events and how successful our tires are, but it is the teams, the crew, the drivers that put in the work and the dedication to make it click when the pressure is on. We hope to carry this momentum through the entire season.”

Posting a time of 1:39.657 in the warm Las Vegas sun, GST Motorsports not only took the Super Modified AWD class but also clinched the overall win once again for Hankook. The GST Motorsports Subaru Sti competes exclusively on the Ventus Z214 tire.

Aside from GST Motorsports, class wins were also had by Andrie Hartanto using the Hankook Ventus Z214 tire, who captured the win in the Super Modified RWD category. In the Drift class, Conrad Grunewald posted a great time for a drift car and took his Hankook Chevrolet Camaro to a win using the Hankook Ventus R-S3 tire. Clint Boisdeau (Street FWD), Carl Rydquist (Modified RWD) also won their class, while Mike Bonnani (Street RWD) took second and Ken Xu (Street RWD) took third as Hankook swept the podium in Street RWD?all drivers were using the Hankook Ventus R-S3 tire. Fast and Furious actor Paul Walker once again competed with Hankook though some mechanical issues forced an early weekend.

While the next Redline Time Attack competition takes place in late May at the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, Calif., all eyes are squarely on the World Superlap Battle taking place May 22 in Australia. Top teams from the United States (including Hankook Tire’s Sierra Sierra Enterprises Mitsubishi Evo 8), Japan and Australia will compete for the title of world’s best.
