Hankook Earns Time Attack Overall Win and another Track Record
WAYNE, NEW JERSEY, July 1, 2008 - For the first time in the series’ short history the Redline Time Attack took its high-speed competition to the blistering heat of the Utah desert and Miller Motorsports Park, and when all was said and done the Hankook team was cooling off from the heat with some ice-cold First Place champagne.
Tyler McQuarrie entered the competition as the favorite, aiming to defend his Round 1 Overall Win earned at Buttonwillow Raceway Park back on March 30th. Internationally known driver Tarzan Yamada made an early bid for the top podium spot by deftly piloting his Crawford Performance Subaru STi to an impressive 1:36.941 competing on Hankook Ventus Z214 competition tires.
Knowing that the bar was set high, Tyler McQuarrie climbed into his CWest/BC/Hankook Honda S2000 also on Hankook Ventus Z214 tires and took to the track. Even though the S2000 was down on power, the team felt it had the right setup, the best driver and sticky fast tires. McQuarrie then proceeded to lay down not only the fastest lap of the day with a 1:35.307 but also managed to break Tanner Faust’s track record by nearly two seconds! “The Hankook tires were an essential aspect of the performance characteristics of the CWest/BC/Hankook S2000 this weekend,” stated Brian Crower of BC Inc., “we just knew we had the right setup to lay down a great time.”
The beauty of the Redline Time Attack is that it all comes down to your official stint under the time gun during the Time Attack lap. For Hankook Tire, McQuarrie, and CWest/Brian Crower it was the second Overall Redline win, second Unlimited RWD Class win, and second Track Record of the season. Hankook also scored a 3rd place Overall with Crawford Performance’s STi driven by Tarzan Yamada.
Round 4 of the Redline Time Attack moves to California Speedway in Fontana, CA July 19-20.
