Hankook Tire Enters Home Territory for Round 3 of Formula Drift
WAYNE, NEW JERSEY, June 11, 2008 - Entering Round 3 of the Formula Drift series, Hankook Tire looks forward to their two Formula Drift teams hitting the track for the series’ first outing at Englishtown Raceway, located near Hankook’s North American headquarters in Wayne, New Jersey. The series previously completed at the now-closed Wall Speedway.
The Englishtown track, the second of only two East Coast stops on the series’ schedule, offers 1.35-miles of fierce track, including 13 turns and a mini corkscrew ? all of which is sure to provide a challenging course for competitors and an exciting show for fans.
“Competing on a new track is always exciting, so we are definitely looking forward to the on-track action,” said Bill Bainbridge, director of brand communications, Hankook Tire America Corp. “Tyler, Robbie and Joon have been working hard throughout the series, and we are eager to have a great show in front of our hometown crowd this weekend.”
The Hankook-sponsored Peak Performance Race team has made a number of improvements to Robbie Nishida’s Nissan 350Z and Joon Maeng’s Nissan S14 in preparation for this weekend’s race. Both cars will benefit from additional horsepower, while Nashida’s car boasts suspension and braking improvements as well. These mechanical updates will help both Peak Performance cars drift harder, faster and in better control for the New Jersey crowd.
Tyler McQuarrie hopes to recapture the success he saw at last year’s New Jersey stop at Wall Speedway. McQuarrie captured a top qualifying spot in the Hankook JIC Porsche’s second outing while on the East Coast.
