Hankook Tire to Better Service Customers with New Chicago Area Distribution Center

WAYNE, NEW JERSEY, April 15, 2008 - Hankook Tire America Corp. (www.hankooktire.com), manufacturer of ultra-high performance passenger, SUV, truck and bus tires, announced the opening of its sixth U.S. distribution warehouse in Aurora, Ill., reducing product delivery times for Hankook dealers and allowing Hankook customers in the Chicago area the option for ‘will call’.

“The addition of a Chicago distribution location allows us to better serve the Chicago metro area,” said J.R. Nottolini, Midwest regional director, Hankook Tire America Corp. “Will call is now possible in this region, allowing dealers to have product in their hands the next day, providing them with a wider variety of just-in-time inventory at their disposal.”

The warehouse is located at 1203 Bilter Road, Aurora, Ill., just outside of Chicago, approximately two miles from I-88. The warehouse will service Hankook Tire retailers throughout the Midwest. These customers previously were serviced from Hankook distribution centers in Tennessee and New Jersey.

Since March of 2006 Hankook has expanded two of its distribution facilities, its Edison, New Jersey, and Dallas locations.

“We strategically chose the Chicago area for this new distribution center to allow us to better respond to customer needs in the Midwest.,” said Bill Bainbridge, director, brand communications of Hankook Tire America Corp. “Hankook Tire has seen double-digit growth every year for the last 10 years, and we have long-term strategies in place to further our global, and U.S., marketplace growth in the next five years. This latest facility opening is another sign of our customer commitment through expansion of our aftermarket distribution channels.”

In addition to its replacement business, Hankook Tire has global original equipment fitments with Ford, General Motors, Hyundai, Kia, Volkswagen, Audi, Chrysler and International Truck.

Hankook Tire remains the fastest growing tire manufacturer in the world, posting global sales of $3.4 billion USD in 2007. Sales in North American topped $751 million in 2007 for an increase of more than 9.5 percent over 2006. Hankook Tire ranked as the sixth largest tire manufacturer in North America in 2007 according to Modern Tire Dealer.
