Title 2/24/2008 - Rally America 100 Acre Wood
Date 03/07/2008 Count 9688

SALEM, Mo., Feb. 24, 2008 ? The 100Acre Wood Rally, Round 2 of the Rally America National Championship, took place February 22-23 in Salem, Missouri. Matthew Johnson teamed once again with Jeremy Wimpey pushed solidly through difficult conditions to claim 3rd overall.

The 100 Acre Wood Rally is the second race of the Rally-America Championship Series and is known as one of the most scenic aside from its inherent difficulty. The 100 Acre Wood Rally is a picturesque race with enough twists and turns to test every driver’s ability, where you will see some of the best rally driving on some of the toughest rally roads in North America.

After battling through a multitude of difficult driving conditions, Johnson and Wimpey captured their first podium position of the season in the highly competitive Open Class. "With the new open class effort this year, having RalliSpec run the Hankook rally team and handle the car preparations I was planning on a couple podium finishes throughout the season after we got things sorted with the new car. This podium came while still using the old car! I`m truly excited to see what we can accomplish when our new rally car debuts at the Olympus rally in Washington in April."

A confident Jeremy Wimpey added that “the Hankook Subaru prepared by Dave and company at RalliSpec performed solidly at the rally, we just focused on our job and put in a strong performance. I`m also looking forward to the rest of the season and I`m already tallying our points wondering how many more we need to get on the X Games invitation list. Currently we sit 3rd in the championship which is a strong seat this early in the show."

The Hankook rally team next competes in the Pacific Northwest, heading out to tackle the Olympus Rally in Olympia, Washington April 19 and 20.
