ENGLISHTOWN, NJ [August 4, 2007] - It was a battle of past Rev It Up™ champions in tonight’s Corvette shootout, but it was G.J. Dixon, 31, of Scarsdale, NY, emerging as champion of the Raceway Park edition of the Chevy-powered Rev It Up™ 2007 national performance driving school and racing competition. Dixon’s run of 28.776 seconds, which translates to a high score of 724 using the Rev It Up™ 2007 scoring system, was more than 80 points higher than the second-place weekend finisher, and as the Raceway Park Rev It Up™ 2007 Event Champion, he was awarded a two-day “Grand Prix Specialty” course for two people at the Bondurant School of High Performance Driving and a custom Corvette-inspired “Jake” guitar by Paul Reed Smith Guitars.
Dixon is undefeated in the Chevy-powered Rev It Up™ competition the New York/New Jersey area, as he also won the region’s 2006 event.
Rev It Up™ 2007 is designed to provide auto enthusiasts across the country the chance to enhance their driving skills and compete for prizes, including the grand prize awarded to the Rev It Up™ 2007 National Champion - a 430-horsepower 2008 Chevrolet Corvette. Christopher Ramey, Houston Rev It Up™ 2007 regional champion, remains the leader in that national points race with his score of 826, despite his efforts to top his score at the Raceway Park event.
“What a great event and of course I’m thrilled to be undefeated in this area, but I think I’ll be making a trip to the D.C-area Rev It Up™ 2007 next weekend to have another shot at Ramey and that 2008 Corvette,” said Dixon, a seven-year autocross veteran and automotive technician. “The special part about the Rev It Up™ program is that it creates a level playing field for all of the competitors - it doesn’t get more fair than this in racing!”
Dixon won the night and weekend after qualifying 4th out of the 25 fastest racers in identically prepared Chevrolet Cobalts to enter the exciting nightly Corvette shootout. Dixon’s score also bested those of the ten Friday night Rev It Up™ 2007 Corvette shootout contestants.
