Lee Niffenegger Goes Undefeated In SSB Division At Blackhawk Farms
WAYNE, NJ (June 8, 2007) - Though it was a new race, the outcome was a very familiar story as Hankook-sponsored driver Lee Niffenegger took the top spot in the second race of the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) Central Division National at Blackhawk Farms Raceway. This race marked the 70th year of racing for the Milwaukee Region of the SCCA.
Saturday sessions were designated as official qualifying rounds for Sunday’s race. The morning session was expected to be more competitive, so the number 42 Hankook Honda Civic Si was prepared accordingly with fresh Z214 C70 soft compound tires for qualifying. During the session, Lee Niffenegger secured the SSB pole position and assured the best possible start for the race.
In the race, the number 42 Hankook Honda Civic Si once again led flag to flag for the SSB class victory. The win was critical to establish a points lead in the CENDIV National point standings over BMW driver Jack Tippens who had to fight with newcomer Chase Lin in another Honda Civic Si.
“As before, the combination of my Honda Civic Si and Hankook tires was perfectly suited for this track, which is particularly hard on brakes and left front tires,” said Niffenegger.
With the win, Lee earns the full 12 points and extends his early points lead in the race for the CENDIV SSB title.
Next up for Niffenegger on the CENDIV calendar is the Chicago Region’s famous June Sprints on June 22nd-24th at Road America in Elkhart Lake, WI. The June Sprints represent one of the three legs of the SCCA Triple Crown which also includes a Divisional championship and the Runoffs.
