WAYNE, NJ (May 9, 2006) - Hankook scored a podium appearance as a result of finishing third in the Super GT race held at Fuji Speedway. This is the best finish ever for a Korean Tire manufacturer in what has become one of the world`s premier touring car championships. Twenty Six cars participated at the event and the Hankook shod Porsche team finished the 500km race which was highlighted on ESPN and SPEED Channel.
As the Hankook Team`s lead driver Kinoshida popped the champaign, he told the media "the results are attributed more to the tires than the race car." An official from Super GT indicated that this was the fastest that any new tire manufacturer scored a podium finish in just the third round of competition.
Mr. Cho Hyunsik, Hankook Vice President said "Our experiences through tough races like the German F3 and Nurburgring 24 Hours made this achievement of placing third possible. I think this achievement demonstrates the great capacity of our tires to the world."
