Jason Miller Wins At Blackhawk
Blackhawk Farms Raceway, IL (April 30 , 2006) - A rainy weekend at Blackhawk Farms Raceway in Northern, IL, came to an exciting end for the Wynnfurst / Kohler / Lola of Jeff Miller and the # 3 Wynnfurst / Kohler / Lola of Jason Miller. The father and son team competes in the SCCA C Sports Racer and D Sports Racer classes respectively.
The team was not set up for a wet weather qualifying session which forced both drivers to start their race from the back of the field. After a disappointing qualifying session the crew went to work on the Wynnfurst Lola’s, banking on a rain race they set the cars up for wet weather.
As the race began with a little moisture on the track, the weather quickly turned as the rain began to fall on the track. Team work was key as the Millers worked together to move through the field to the front of the lead pack. The teams new tire partner, Hankook Tires, provided great rain tires providing the cars with the grip they needed to challenge the fiercely competitive field. Jason Miller was able to take the overall lead and the lead of the DSR class.
Jason battled several cars in the tightly packed DSR class but ultimately sped away to a 13 second victory over fellow competitor Randall Alexander. Jeff Miller was able to pull out a comfortable lead in the CSR class but as the race went on, he encountered problems with his transmission leaving him only 5th gear. Nursing the car home, Jeff finished 4th overall and 1st in the CSR class.
This was the first event of the 2006 season for Wynnfurst Ltd and after a long winter break and much hard work in the engine department their hard work paid dividends. With both drivers winning their respective classes, the team hopes to carry the momentum into their home race, the June Sprints, at Elkhart Lake’s Road America, June 22 -25, 2006.
